Our Story
STUDIO HISTORY
Established in 2002, Namaskar Yoga is one of the first studios in Chicago. Founded by Christine Delizer as the final project of her teacher training program, Namaskar started as a cozy yoga clothing boutique with a super small space in the back where classes were offered from every now and then. Over time, the interest in classes grew. The boutique closed and the studio took over the space 100%.
In December of 2008, Alexandra Murman took over the studio and continues to nurture the community-centered spirit that Chris so beautifully created. Still rooted in its original location at 3946 N. Southport, Namaskar continues to be a warm and supportive presence in the Lakeview neighborhood for over two decades.
Namaskar is proud to be a studio with a small ego and a big heart. We listen to our students and grow alongside their evolving needs and interests. Our long-term plan is simple: stay humble, stay personal, and most importantly—stay.
Namaskar remains a space of refuge, support, kindness, and inspiration for both students and teachers. We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you into our community.

When I’m not taking care of the studio, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, moving through life at a slower pace, eating healthy, going to the gym, and doing my best to invite more freedom, peace, and love into each day.
I warmly and sincerely invite you to come get to know us—and let us get to know you.
Hope to see you in the studio soon—and please don’t hesitate to reach out anytime.

OWNER BIO Alexandra Murman
People often ask if I teach any of the classes at Namaskar. While I did complete yoga teacher training, it was always intended for my personal growth—I never planned to become a yoga teacher. That said, when the opportunity came to take over ownership and management of Namaskar Yoga, I knew instantly it was meant to be. After decades of working in all kinds of jobs, traveling whenever I could, and searching for meaning in both life and work, this opportunity truly felt like divine guidance. Even with the ups and downs that come with running a small business, I continue to feel incredibly fortunate.

Come experience what yoga might mean for you: a grounding workout, a moment of peace and quiet, deeper self-awareness, or even a spark of spiritual insight. The beauty of yoga is that it meets us exactly where we are—and as we grow, it grows with us.
Hope to see you in the studio soon—and please don’t hesitate to reach out anytime.
