2hr Fri. Candlelight Yin Yoga Class

led by Robyn Okrant

Friday April 26 @ 8:00-10:00pm

Cost: $25 - $30 at the door

The ultimate in relaxation, this floor-based and deliciously deep class redefines “release.”  Most types of yoga are yang in their active, muscle-focused approach to practice.  Yin yoga gently allows release of the lesser-attended-to, ligaments and tendons by holding supported postures for extended periods. This class invites you to connect with and open your body in new and unexpected ways. Your yoga practice will thank you.  Suitable for all levels of students.

MAY

Shoulder & Back Relief

led by Tina Ward

Saturday, May 4 @ 1:00-3:00pm

Cost: $25 - $30 at the door

Many people suffer from tension in the shoulders often accompanied by discomfort and pain in the back. During this workshop we will pinpoint the specific trouble spots in the shoulder girdle - stretching and strengthening safely, slowly and deeply. Following this, we will focus on the upper, middle, and lower back via a few fun twisting poses that will release the spine, massage the digestive system (a great form of detox!), and bring your whole body, mind and spirit back into a more natural alignment.

Replenish:

A Meditation, Breathing & Deep Relaxation Practice

led by Rachel Kates & David Duerkop

Friday, May 10 @ 8:00-9:30pm

Cost: $16 - $18 at the door

This class focuses on meditation, pranayama (focused breathing) and deep guided relaxation.  Although only touched on in most yoga classes, each of these yogic elements is an incredibly powerful practice in it’s own right, offering access to deep focus, insight, clarity, and relaxation. In this unique class, all three elements come together with the opportunity for each to enhance the other.  All three practices will be taught, guided and experienced. Turn inward, find your center and replenish from the inside out.  No previous knowledge or experience required.

Training Season Jump Start:

A workshop for runners & athletes

Saturday, May 18 @ 1:00-3:00pm

Cost: $25 - $30 at the door

The 2013 training season is here!  Whether you’re training for your first 5K or your thenth marathon, it’s important your body is strong and balanced. Repetitive motion sports encourage strength in certain muscle groups and leave others weak and underdeveloped.  Yoga strengthes minor muscle groups overlooked in most training programs and brings balance to the body and confidence to your training. In this workshop, we will focus on yoga postures and flows that will help improve your strength and balance and help prevent and heal injuries. With balanced strength in your muscle groups, you’ll fight off fatigue in your training and speed up recovery time after longer runs.

The main portion of this workshop will focus on strengthening leg, hip and core muscles as well as using the breath to move through Sun Salutations and traditional balance poses.  We will finish up with some more sustained stretches and longer restorative postures so you will leave feeling strong as well as stretched.  This workshop is open to all levels, runners and non runners as well as other athletes and those recovering from sports induced injuries.  A discussion will take place to help integrate these postures and yoga classes into your individual training routines.
